NWSS has created a unique opportunity for students from around the world to participate in a distance-mentoring program providing leadership and character training. Students enrolled in the NWSS Global Leadership Initiative will gain skills that will set them apart from their peers and distinguish them as leaders for the 21st century!

For instance, the admissions departments of Harvard, Yale, and Princeton all recognize the need for character and leadership and include these as factors in their admissions decisions, in addition to academic achievement.

Through the NWSS Global Leadership Initiative, a two-year distance education program with three annual leadership seminars, you will study leadership and leadership styles. You’ll explore the roles of leaders in the modern community, regularly communicate with a leadership mentor, understand what it means to have strong character, and set yourself apart as a leader who is willing to take on a new challenge!

Leadership and Character I

Leadership and Character I, you’ll focus on the skills needed to become a strong leader and create service project focusing on external leadership skills and the power you have to change your world. You’ll explore the roles of leaders in the modern community, regularly communicate with a leadership mentor, understand what it means to have strong character, and set yourself apart as a leader who is willing to take on a new challenge! Successful completion of this class results in three US college transfer credits. (contingent on university approval of credits) and acceptance into Leadership and Character II.

Year #2 includes regular communication with a mentor, two leadership seminars, as well as a one-week internship in the U.S. learning from a leader in education, medicine, government, or business. (Airfare and or/visa fees & processing are not included.)
